FAQ

Who is Heather Hopkinson?
Heather Hopkinson is the Broker/Owner of Heather Hopkinson & Associates, an independent real estate brokerage based in Charlotte, NC. She has worked in real estate since 2002, opened her own firm in 2019 and is a REALTOR® licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina. She represents buyers and sellers across the Charlotte metro and the Triad.
What areas does Heather Hopkinson serve? Heather works throughout the Charlotte metro: Charlotte, plus Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson and Mooresville around Lake Norman, and Concord, Kannapolis, Matthews and Mint Hill. In the Triad she serves Winston-Salem, Clemmons, Lewisville, Kernersville, Bermuda Run and Greensboro.

Can Heather help me relocate to Charlotte from out of state? Yes. Heather has helped buyers move to the Charlotte area from other states. She talks with you by phone before your trip to narrow down areas, must-haves and commute needs, then plans focused home tours. If you close before you move, she can be your eyes and ears on the ground, including at the final walkthrough.

Should I use my own agent when buying a new construction home? Yes. The builder's on-site sales agent works for the builder, not for you. Heather spent her first five years in real estate representing builders, so she knows how builder contracts, upgrades and incentives work. Bring her on your first visit to a new community, since many builders require your agent to be registered then.

Can Heather help sell an inherited or estate home? Yes. Heather has helped families sell inherited and estate properties, including heirs who live out of town. She can help price the home, line up trusted local pros for cleanout and repairs, and coordinate with the estate attorney. For legal and tax questions, she works alongside your attorney and accountant.

What is the due diligence period in North Carolina? In North Carolina, the due diligence period is a set number of days in the purchase contract when the buyer can inspect the home, get an appraisal, finalize a loan and cancel for any reason. Buyers usually pay the seller a due diligence fee, which they generally don't get back if they cancel. See Heather's guide, "What Your Home Inspection Might Miss."

Is Heather Hopkinson licensed in South Carolina? Yes. Heather holds North Carolina real estate broker license #252937 and South Carolina real estate license #69318.
